Since planting pinot noir in 2001 we have been quietly building a supercharged soil biology built on buried cow horns, barrel and brick compost brews, eggshell, basalt, and a thriving earthworm population. Our earthworm count is one of the highest (actually won a competition!) of all organic vineyards in the country.

The article confirms our move into full biodynamics — not just ticking an organics box, but going deeper into soil science, lunar cycles, and microbiology. While we didn't fully understand it at first, it's now hard to imagine farming any other way.

Winemaker Hätsch Kalberer has been working with The Wrekin fruit for three years, and calls it one of the rare estates that is genuinely not a monoculture.

As Jan puts it: "The soil is alive and I think the place is more alive."
