Needle’s eye is a firmly concentrated, black fruited Pinot Noir.
Dark, deep, ruby-red colour, youthful in appearance, a little lighter on the rim. The nose is well-concentrated and intensely packed with aromas of ripe, dark red berry and black cherry fruit, along with dark raspberries and a layer of violet florals, black minerals and subtle, complexing whole bunch herb and stalk perfumes.
Medium-full bodied, the palate is firm and elegantly concentrated with fruit flavours of black berried fruits, black cherries, unfolding waves of violet florals and black minerals. Subtle herb detail adds to the interest.
The wine follows a very fine-grained, firm and taut line with fresh, integrated acidity. This is smooth flowing with good underlying drive and energy leading to a concentrated, long-lingering black fruited and floral finish.
Match with beef, lamb, venison and semi-hard cheeses over the next 5-6+ years.
